Moroso Coolant Tanks For Polaris RZR, RZR Turbo, And RZR Turbo S

Since 1968, Moroso Performance Products has stood as a performance-enhancing pillar for both race and street machines. With more than 4,000 products manufactured under the Moroso name, the evolution of this aftermarket powerhouse is just as expansive as it is impressive.

The white-and-black Moroso mark has been a staple in the automotive world with its oil pans, ignition components, fueling systems, and cooling tanks. They do it all including a bevy of brake, chassis, and race-exclusive products which fill in the gaps.

You can typically find Moroso-made products on any high-performance ride and are highly favored by street-rod enthusiasts. But the brand’s most recent endeavor revolves around a far more niche market. One that is just as enjoyable as straight-line street car swiftness, but is far from being labeled as something one might consider “street legal.”

As the title of this article clearly illustrates, Moroso has now gotten into the UTV game. Its first round of product releases focuses upon the immensely popular Polaris RZR. To date, there are currently four Moroso products being offered which are all vehicle-specific bolt-on upgrades for the 2016+ Polaris RZR, RZR Turbo, and RZR Turbo S. Very beautiful hand-crafted cooling tanks were the central focus for this initial introduction.

Moroso part number 43000 is a Coolant Expansion Tank that is engineered exclusively for owners of the regular RZR who fancy a stronger and longer-lasting coolant tank and favor a race-ready brushed-alloy appearance. Those who prefer the stealthier all-blacked-out look will want to check out Moroso part number 43001. This coolant expansion tank packs an identical design to the aforementioned model, but in a covert black powder coat finish.

Naturally Aspirated RZR Moroso Coolant Tanks Key Design Points:

  • Direct bolt-on replacement installation to the RZR’s OEM multi-piece plastic tank location
  • 100-percent aluminum construction for superior lightweight strength, longevity, and looks
  • Comes in a brushed finish for those who love a raw metal look, and a black powder coat option for all you ninjas out there
  • The raw tank option sports the ability to be chrome finished, painted, powder-coated, or left as-is
  • Each unit comes with a Moroso billet aluminum vented cap and a new O-ring
  • Pricing for the polished unit runs $167.88 a pop, with the black powder-coated version running $198.78 per unit

Not looking to leave any of the Polaris RZR line out, Moroso has also crafted up a set of coolant tank upgrades for the 2016+ RZR Turbo, as well as the Turbo S. Mirroring the options previously mentioned, 43002 Coolant Expansion Tank Kits for both boosted versions of the RZR can be had in a brushed finish, or the 43003 Coolant Expansion Tank Kits sporting that slick black powder coat look.

But unlike the straightforward design of the N/A version of the RZR, Moroso explains that the turbo models required a bit more engineering. The reason for this is the factory cooling system and the liquid-cooled intercooler on boosted RZR engines both revolve around the same puny plastic coolant tank. This Achilles heel in the RZR Turbo’s factory cooling system is prone to being bogged down by heat soak when under heavy use, which over time can lead to catastrophic repercussions.

Moroso’s 2016+ Polaris RZR Turbo and Turbo S Coolant and Intercooler Tank Kits reduce the risk of overheating by separating the engine’s cooling system from the liquid-cooled intercooler and eliminating any chance of cross-contamination.

Turbocharged RZR Moroso Coolant Tanks Key Design Points:

  • Ability to bolt into factory OEM tank mounting points, eliminating the need for fabrication
  • 1-liter of increased overall cooling capacity
  • The aluminum structure reduces the risk of premature failure from extreme heat, vibration, and sudden impacts
  • Available in either raw aluminum or black powder coat finish
  • The raw aluminum tank comes ready for chrome, paint, or powder coat if a bare metal look is not your cup of octane
  • Billet aluminum radiator necks come equipped with Moroso racing radiator caps for additional performance
  • Pricing for a polished version is $364.61, as the powder-coated version tips the scale at $409.93

Moroso RZR Coolant Tanks

In order to learn more about these UTV coolant tanks, we caught up with Marketing and New Product Manager for Moroso Performance Products, Thor Schroeder, to discuss the reasoning behind this recent move into the side-by-side market, and what he told us was spot-on for all the right reasons.

Apparently, the Moroso team has been wanting to get into the UTV game for a hot minute, but nothing ever really came to fruition until one of the brand’s R&D engineers made mention of the puny plastic coolant tanks on the Polaris RZR. Described by Schroeder as someone who is “very active in the UTV scene,” this particular employee provided a unique opportunity for the company to try something different and offer a much-needed solution for the Polaris RZR platform.

What Is Next For Moroso In The UTV Game?

Since a lot of Moroso’s customers were already using UTV rigs as either pit vehicles or as recreational rigs, offering a product with proven performance perks and unrelenting longevity from a brand they already knew and trusted was pretty much a no-brainer. And while Mr. Schroeder remains silent on the topic of what Moroso UTV products to expect to see in the future, he did state “Yes, we will be broadening our product range in this area.”

While Moroso is more than happy to admit that these coolant tanks “…solve a problem while upgrading the look of the UTV…” there is still a lot of speculation as to what the brand will come out with next, and whether or not it will keep focusing on the Polaris RZR platform exclusively. Regardless of what emerges, one thing remains certain, and that is the quality of the engineering and craftsmanship that goes into every new offering bearing the Moroso Performance Products name.
