At the Barrett-Jackson Auction several of the Automobile manufacturer’s show off their new cars for the year. RAM trucks were no exception, and they had a 2021 RAM TRX on display and the RAM TRX Off-Road Experience available to ride on their outside course. The line was long to take the ride and I waited along with everyone else.
When I got to the front of the line I entered in my information at their screens and let them know I was with Off Road Xtreme and was planning to write a feature piece on the RAM TRX. The staff was incredibly helpful and arranged for me to ride on the Off-Road Experience and after I returned from the ride, took me out to the course to take photos of the RAM TRX in action!
The RAM TRX
The RAM TRX is built from the ground up to bring you high-performance in the grueling off-road scenarios. The engine is a supercharged 6.2 Liter Hemi V8 with 702 horsepower! It can do 0 – 60 mph in 4.5 seconds.
The ground clearance and suspension is also first-rate with an 11.8-inch ground clearance built with Bilstein shocks. The truck has eight drive modes including Sport, Snow, Mud/Sand, and Rock as well as four more. The engine and muffler combination gives the RAM TRX a very distinct low-throttled rumble.
Tires include 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory All Terrain placed on gloss black 18-inch cast aluminum wheels. There are several configurations to choose from.
The RAM TRX Off-Road Experience
The off-road track for the RAM TRX Off-Road Experience was located outside of the WestWorld buildings with just a short ride to get there. There were several RAM TRX trucks with drivers picking up riders to take them through the course.
The off-road course was all dirt and watered down repeatedly top both keep the dust down and to display the trucks performance on wet, muddy roads. The first section was through the wet mud with some slight turns at a moderate rate of speed. Next would be a climb over a steep hill of more than a 45-degree grade and back down.
Next the driver would hit an embankment with a 38-degree banked slope and you would be hanging on to any part of the truck that was available! After righting back to level ground the driver would pick up some speed and take you over a jump where you would get two-three feet of air. After a relatively smooth-landing the driver would slow down and take you back to the starting point.
The drivers ran these RAM TRXs every day of the auction for several hours with only minimal issues. These trucks appeared to take a beating with minimal wear-and-tear.
Final Thoughts On The RAM TRX
The RAM TRX is built for the off-road enthusiast who wants performance and power on the trails. The truck comes complete with everything you need as well as a variety of options. The RAM TRX is a vehicle that you could drive off the lot and immediately take it to your favorite off-road trails without any modifications.
