Even though Porsche is credited for reviving the performance SUV segment with its Touareg-based Cayenne nameplate, it was Lamborghini’s LM002 off-roader that cemented the Sant’Agata Bolognese automaker as a true visionary. This was long before Lamborghini Urus was even a concept, and now a well-thought-out design study is imploring us to wonder, whether or not a single cab pickup version of the legendary LM002 nameplate would have fared well in the modern world?

Going off of the rendering presented to us here, we would have to say that it would have done pretty well! The design study was commissioned by automotive lifestyle company Hagerty, as part of its “What If?” series, which offers quite the read. In the past, Hagerty has also been responsible for bringing us other quirky off-roaders like AI Design’s battery-powered Willys Jeep. This particular 3D rendering was designed by imaginative artist, Abimelec Arellano.

For the uninitiated, the Lamborghini LM002 was only available in a dual-cab body type, but the digital render reimagines the Italian pickup as a single cab model. Safe to say, Lambo made a strategically sound decision by sticking to the double cab layout because a single-cab LM002 would not have been the most practical product to go on sale back in the late 80s. But let’s be honest, no one buys a Lamborghini for practicality. We have Audis for that.
