Design Engineering Inc., or DEI as it is more commonly known, has engineered a solution for common heat soak and vapor lock issues associated with 1997-2004 Jeep models with inline-six engines. DEI may be more well-known for turbo blankets and exhaust wraps, but this latest proves that the brand is forever searching for fresh insulation solutions.
When the Cleveland, Ohio aftermarket insulation specialist announced that it would be releasing an easy-to-install heat protection kit for older versions of the inline-six Jeep, off-road enthusiasts let out a collective sigh of relief. Designed to reduce temps along the fuel rail and across injectors, this kit doubles down on fighting vapor lock while keeping fuel cooler.

Mike Duca, Brand Manager for DEI, explains that they developed this kit to offer the customer everything they needed in order to complete the job. “We include not only the heat shields, but also new O-rings for the fuel injectors and detailed instructions,” Duca says. This decision prevents buyers from having to purchase additional fuel rail components, thus making this heat protection kit a straightforward DIY project.
