Ford’s 2017 Super Duty is trickling out on the streets, but here at the 2016 SEMA Show, it is a hot topic for companies like BDS Suspension. We spoke with BDS’s Carter Reed to discover what they’re offering for this next-gen diesel pickup.

“We built out this 2017 Super Duty truck in a matter of six weeks, and features our four-link conversion and coilover upgrades,” said Reed. “Riding in this truck is truly amazing, and I can speak from experience as I rode in it all the way from Michigan here to Las Vegas.” Along the way, Reed had the opportunity to take the truck off-road in Moab, Utah, and spoke volumes about how capable and comfortable the pickup was. Then we got back to the nitty-gritty.

This 2017 Super Duty, equipped with the four-link conversion kit from BDS, drove all the way from Michigan to Las Vegas, and even had fun out in the off-road paradise of Moab, Utah. It performed brillantly, according to BDS's Carter Reed.

“This truck has the four-link conversion that lifts the truck by six inches,” said Reed. “One of the things we’re doing that nobody else is, is an indexing ring that puts the front driveshaft at an ideal driveline angle toward the front differential. This keeps the driveshaft from wearing down prematurely, and we have a crossmember that keeps the drivetrain protected.”

The rear has BDS’s Recoil traction bars, meanwhile, which are what make the rear conversion kits a special treat. These traction bars are dual-purpose, and can be adjusted to better suit towing or off-roading.

The Recoil traction bars contain a 3,000-pound spring that can be adjusted at the axle end. This will make the bar more stiff or bouncy, depending on the user's needs.

“A lot of guys use their trucks for more than one thing, and that’s what our Recoil traction bars take care of,” said Reed. “We use a 3,000-pound spring built into the traction bar, which you can pre-load using adjustment on the axle end of the bar. Stiffening it is better for towing, and loosening it will make it better for off-roading.”

The 2017 Super Duty will definitely be able to live up to its name thanks to this new offering from BDS Suspension. See more on its website, and see more from SEMA right here!
