Off road motorsports is an industry in itself. Thousands of companies build products from components for your own project in your driveway to full-tilt racecars designed to dominate a desert track. Hundreds of thousands of enthusiasts participate in a common hobby, tearing up dirt. The Off-Road Motorsports Hall Of Fame (ORMHOF) was formed to put a spotlight on the people that made a notable impact in the off-road world.
In 2015, ORMHOF started up two new categories, the Rising Star and the Louis Unser “Never Give Up” awards. The of nominees for the Rising Star Award for 2016 was recently released. Voting is open to members through the month of October and the final results will be awarded at the annual ORMHOF Induction Ceremony just before the SEMA show.
The nominees are split into six categories. Off-Road Racing, Industry, Short Course, Advocate, Rock Sports and Motorcycle/ATV/UTV. Each category has four to five nominees including both Andy and Luke McMillin for Off-Road Racing, Charlene Bower for Industry, CJ Greaves and Kyle LeDuc for Short Course, Clay Gilstrap for Rock Sports and Robby Bell for Motorcycle/ATV/UTV. The full list of nominees can be viewed on the ORMHOF website.
If you are interested in helping to select the winners of the Rising Star awards, head over to the ORMHOF website and join up. Membership is broken down into three options. A Voting membership is $25. An Individual membership, for $100, gives you voting rights and a Commemorative Thank You Gift. The full tilt Ironman membership gives you all of the above plus two tickets to the annual Induction Ceremony where you’ll be able to rub shoulders with the off-road world’s elite in Las Vegas, Nevada.
