Spring has sprung, and the time is upon us once again to see some awesome short-course action here in Southern California. Rounds 3 and 4 of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORRS) took place just this past weekend, bringing thousands of spectators out to the Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park to see what Pro 2, Pro 4, Pro Lite, and Pro Buggy vehicles do best: jump, nerf, and sling mud on the way to the checkered flag.
It’s primetime for sponsoring companies to meet fans as well. Rigid Industries was in attendance and showcasing two sweet trucks at the event: a Pro 2 truck destined for greatness, and the Toyota Tundra pace truck that guided the way for pro and rookie alike on the race course.
We were able to talk to Brett Carpenter and get some more detail on these vehicles, as well as discuss what fans were getting to see showcased at the Rigid booth. Starting off was the Pro 2 truck, which is slated to begin racing in 2017 when the next LOORRS season kicks off.
“The truck was built by Steve Barlow, and he helped Sheldon Creed for several years with his Pro 2 efforts,” explained Carpenter. “The Brooks racing team bought it from Barlow’s camp and put some time into it already, getting ready for next year.” This indicated that rising star Jerett Brooks will be shifting his efforts from Pro Lite to Pro 2.
“We got introduced to Jerett a few years ago, we met him through mutual friends in the sponsor program,” continued Carpenter. “Last year, we stepped it up and went bigger as an official sponsor of the program. We did a co-title deal with X Games with Jerett. This year, we’ve stepped up again as his title sponsor. The relationship has been tremendous and with his eyes on the championship, we’re proud to be a part of it.”
Outside of short-course racing, Brooks is promoting Rigid Industries on his Polaris RZR XP1000 equipped with Rigid lights. “He’s quite an ambassador for us outside of just short-course,” Carpenter said.

The Toyota Tundra pace truck leads every race’s beginning at LOORRS events, and showcases Rigid’s latest products, too.
Another big point of pride for Rigid Industries is the Toyota Tundra pace truck. “We have a lot of product on the pace truck, and the beauty of that is that the lights you see on the truck can be bought right now at a store,” said Carpenter. “The fans of this series are part of our bread and butter, and we don’t want to forget where we came from as we expand. The Lucas Oil series is a big part of reaching out to those here in the Southwest that love off-road, from Nevada to Mexico.”
Mounted to the pace truck is one of Rigid’s factory LED Grilles, as well as handful of dually lights. Other add-ons include the fog light and rock light kits, and even the brand new Radiance light bar, this one measuring 50 inches across. “We wanted to brand something at this series, and we wanted to be seen,” explained Carpenter. “Being as there’s no lights mounted on the race vehicles, it’s tough. We got creative and now we have the Rigid name out there at all times.”
When fans, racers, and sponsors meet at the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series, it’s nothing if not a sight to behold. Learn more about Rigid Industries on its website and Facebook page, and stay tuned for more of our LOORRS race coverage.
