Most vehicle projects stop when a family is started when a little guy or girl is introduced into it. Matt Christian has taken the opposite approach on his latest build. Matt used to have a built S10, but when he and his wife had their daughter in October of 2014 plans would need to change.

Matt’s S10 was only a single cab that would not have enough room for his new family. The S10 had plenty of success winning Top Truck in 2014, but things would need to change. Matt sold the truck and began looking for a new project.

“After I sold the truck I originally found a Trailblazer SS, but after the creation of Mountain Havoc I wanted something that I could compete in. I got to thinking with the Colorado I could build something a lot more competitive, so I sold the Trailblazer,” Matt began to tell us about the build.

“The Coloado would fit the family, and I would not need to worry about all the body on the Trailblazer. The Colorado has AxleTech axles,  20-inch ORI Struts, Rockwell Off Road 1.25 hiem joints and hex bungs, and a Moab 4×4 Outpost M40 speed shifter,” Matt explained about some of the parts going the build.

We wanted to know what was going under the hood to power the vehicle, “I have a 6.0-liter and 4l80e out of a Silverado that we will be putting LS3 heads, Texas speed LS3 blower cam, ZL1 blower, Lingenfelter ported blower snout and 2.55 upper pulley, ARP studs, LS simple 8 rib accessory bracket kit, 80lb injectors, new lifters, oil pump, timing chain, and Doug Thorley longtubes headers for a 5.3-liter Colorado will all be added.”

“The goal behind the build was to build something that was going to have heat and air conditioning, all while being family friendly. It will do some trail riding locally, but be competitive enough to compete in events like Top Truck and Mountain Havoc,” Matt explained about the end goal.

The ultimate goal for the build according to Matt would be, “To make it to the Backdoor or Chocolate Thunder shootout at King of the Hammers next year. The vehicle will be ready for competition in June.”

This vehicle is going to see anything and everything that Matt can do. “I want to do anything with it. I won’t do a rock bouncer bounty hill with it, as I do not want to trash it, but something like shootout is perfect,” Matt finished up saying.
