The Russians have long had a strange but incredible relationship with off-roading. From corkscrew-propelled tanks to the DARTZ line of bizarro SUVs, the country has no shortage of outlandish and awesome ideas of how to traverse the earth. Now, the new kid on the block is the Sherp, which is about as close to a life-size Hot Wheels truck as it gets: all four wheels operate on the same plane (no steering, just skid-steering), the tires are gargantuan, and the places it can go are only limited by your imagination.

To some, the Sherp looks like something out of a cartoon or a life-size Hot Wheel.

Speaking of the tires, these puppies are self-inflating and are sized 781x63R25 – way larger than any set of 40s you’ll find on a lifted Cummins. The Sherp is the brainchild of a man named Aleksei Garagashian, who wanted to make an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) that could do just about anything. Want to crush tall weeds or small trees? You got it. Want to wade through a river than would drown a pony? You got it.

So let’s talk specs. The Sherp is diesel-powered, using a four-cylinder, 1.5-liter motor making 44.3 horsepower to motivate the vehicle with a gross weight of 2,866 pounds. It has seats for just two people, but can accommodate two more with its sleeping quarters. The 58-liter fuel tank can get the Sherp to travel distances of up to 288 miles, at an average speed of 12 mph.

The Sherp comes in two trims: soft top, which costs $65,000, and hardtop, which costs $70,000. Assuming you could get it imported to the States (good luck), where would you take the Sherp? Let us know in the comments below.
