The fun and frenzy of the Lucas Oil Off Road Expo brings out more than just thousands of enthusiasts, businessmen, and awesome new techĀ to bask in and enjoy. The event also has some of the baddest, most astounding vehicles that we at Off Road XtremeĀ wish we could take for a spin. One such specimen was this two-door JK at the outdoor TeraFlex booth.
The short causeway leading into the main event is prime real estate at the Off Road Expo. TeraFlex, based out of West Jordan, Utah, was definitely making the most of this opportunity as itĀ showcased this terrific 2010 Wrangler for all to see. We spoke with the company’s Dennis Wood to see what it was all about.
“Once we figured out we were really going to go to town on the Jeep, we opted for something that wasn’t brand-spanking-new,” joked Wood. “We knew we wanted to showcase our own products on it, but we took it to another level before we were finished.”
A 392ci Hemi V8 really took this Jeep over the top.
The Jeep sports TeraFlex’s long-arm six-inch lift kit, but that isn’t the only cool part about the vehicle. “I’m an old Mopar guy,” confessed Wood. “So I wanted to do a Shaker hood on the Jeep. I thought about doing an LS motor, but that just wouldn’t be right. I went back to the drawing board and looked at the 6.4-liter Hemi and went with it!”
Using a Dakota Customs Hemi Conversion kit, the engine went in and was left naturally aspirated so it could still be controllable. Mandrel-bent headers from Borla were fitted to the monstrous motor, as was an WA580 transmission courtesy of Bruiser Conversions. “Holy cow, you use this motor with this transmission, it’ll make you happy,” laughed Wood.
Happiness was certainly an emotion we felt after getting to see this JK up close and personal. For more, check out our coverage of the event and keep it locked here onĀ Off Road Xtreme.
