Walking around the Sand Sports Super Show we came across many extreme vehicles, but none caught our eye like this 1970 street-legal off-road buggy built by Playtech Racing in Anaheim, California.
This is an attention grabber and had people around it almost all day. It is street legal in the state of California, and how they managed to get there is a feat in itself.
This buggy has a LS1 5.7-liter supercharged motor that puts out 550 horsepower, that is paired up with a Weddle Industries HV25 five speed transaxle.
“I wanted to create a custom buggy that nobody else in the world has. Something that I could take to car shows, pre-run the Baja 1000 and be street-legal. This unlimited build truly is the best of both worlds,” said Shawn Schauwecker, owner of the buggy.
Schauwecker worked with John Gould, owner of Playtech Racing. “Playtech Racing went way beyond my expectations and truly made this beast one of a kind! The custom gullwig doors and window nets that John fabricated made this build truly unique,” Schauwecker mentioned about his vehicle.
The buggy sits on 2.5 inch King coilovers, three inch bypass shocks, 17 inch Ultra beadlock wheels, and 35 inch BFG project tires. Inside are five custom pro seats, custom Chuy’s Auto Upholstery, and a Rockford Fosgate custom sound system. Jamar Performance custom hubs, breaks, and paddle assembly make sure this buggy stops on a dime.
When this buggy drives down the road or dirt it will definitely turn some heads. Tell us what you think of this one-of-a-kind buggy in the comments below!
