July Truck Sales: How Long Can The Colorado Stay On Top

This year has been an interesting year in the pickup market. The midsize truck market has taken off this year with the help of the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon.

The midsize pickups continue to dominate in a market that has always been controlled by the full size trucks. Pickuptrucks.com has released the fastest and slowest selling pickups for the month of July.

Once again the Colorado continues to be a top the list. The 2015 Chevrolet Colorado crew cab takes on average 17 days to sell. The Colorado extended cab takes on average 21 days, and is number three on the list, while the 2015 crew cab GMC Canyon is number seven.

The first surprise on the list is in the number two spot, the 2016 Ford F-350 Super Duty crew cab. In past months there have been little to no heavy duty pickups on the fastest selling list.

Another interesting fact sticks with Ford, they have all three models of F series trucks on the list. The 2016 Ford F-350 Super Duty crew cab, 2016 Ford F-250 Super Duty crew cab, and the 2015 Ford F-150 regular cab all made the list. It is also the first time we have seen a 2016 model truck on the list. We should continue to see more as other models hit showrooms through the end of the year.

Toyota continues to make its presence known in the pickup truck market. Toyota has both the 2015 Tacoma crew cab and extended cab, and the 2015 Tundra CrewMax and extended cab on the fastest selling trucks. Toyota also has the highest percentage of trucks on the list.

One thing to note is that the Chevrolet Silverado did not make the fastest selling list, which may play into why the Colorado is doing so well. Even with the anti-aluminum campaign, Chevy was not able to keep the F-150 off the list.

The slowest selling trucks list is completely made up of the heavy duty, three-quarter-ton and one-ton pickups. The slowest selling pickups list usually has a couple half-ton stragglers on it, but this month not even one mad the list.

Ford and GM take the majority of the slowest selling truck list up, with Ram only having the 3500 crew cab and MegaCab on the list. The 2015 GMC Sierra 2500 HD extended cab takes the longest to sell at 121 days to sell.

With more and more 2016 models hitting showrooms now through the end of the year, we should continue to see more and more 2016 models on the list. The Colorado has a great chance to stay on the list with the addition of the diesel motor in the 2016 model.
