The Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series is about to kick back up again for 2015. Come Friday, the Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park will shoot up with lights and sounds for miles around as racers like Bryce Menzies, Rob MacCachren, and others go all-out in intense stadium action.
Here at Off Road Xtreme in nearby Murrieta, we have the good fortune of working quite close to many of these big names in the off-road racing scene. One of them is Brian Deegan, whose high-speed skill behind the wheel of the #38 Pro 2 truck has served him well in his LOORRS career, where he has won six championships to date.
The fun and exhilaration of racing is something that Deegan has been able to share with his family, including one of his daughters, Hailie. Competing in the Mod Kart class as #538, Hailie is proving to be quite the rising star in her petite pink kart.
The kart made an appearance in our garage this week to undergo testing on the drivetrain, which had recently been revamped to improve its shifting capability as well as its air-fuel ratio. Our in-house technicians (as well as the rest of the office) were quick to notice just how loud these little four-stroke motors can be when revved up all the way.
All eyes were fixated on the dyno readout after four runs were completed. As it turns out, the kart made a very impressive power that gets this little 500-pound cart up to speed faster than you’d think. But of course, power numbers are the racer’s secret! Suffice it to say that Hailie’s Mod Kart is ready to rock come the race this weekend.
We’ll be cheering for the Deegans come Friday, when the action is set to go down at 7 p.m. Whether you’ll be attending the event in person or watching from afar, be sure to keep it here on Off Road Xtreme to follow it all as it happens.
