The Jeep Wrangler is easily one of the most customizable and diverse vehicles on the road today. Wranglers are known for their recognizable appearance as well as their off-road capabilities thanks in large part to a formula that works; solid axles, a short wheelbase, and enough power to get the job done. Because of this, anytime Jeep decides they are going to change something up on the Wrangler, enthusiasts and the aftermarket alike hold their breath in hopes of the changes being positive ones.

Such is the case with the next-generation Wrangler that is due out in 2017. Up until very recently there has been very little information about the next-gen Wrangler, even whether or not it would retain its off-road-friendly solid axles. Well, Wrangler fans rejoice, because Jeep has confirmed that the next-gen Wrangler will retain solid axle suspension front and rear!

While there are sure to be some new-age enthusiasts who hoped the Wrangler would go to A-arms for their obvious advantages, the fact of the matter is that the vast majority of enthusiasts and aftermarket companies will be much happier keeping solid axles. You could write a book comparing solid axles versus A-arms, but for the Wrangler market, solid axles are king. There are countless aftermarket companies who focus the majority of their attention on Jeep accessories, so by staying with solid axles, the aftermarket is going to already have a huge head start with suspension mods for the upcoming release.

Solid axles are easier to lift, easy to modify, easy to swap, and provide a lot of advantages for low speed technical sections where heavy articulation is needed. Even so, there are bound to be some A-arm loyalists who are going to be sad about this. So what do you think?
