With the death of the compact truck (Ford Ranger, Toyota Pickup, etc), a new breed of midsize trucks have swept the nation as a great alternative for those who want or need a pickup but don’t want or need the full capability of a half-ton. For the past five years, the Toyota Tacoma and Nissan Frontier have been the only two trucks in this category, with the Toyota Tacoma being the clear favorite. While Toyota sold over 150,000 Tacomas in 2014 alone, they have done so being unrivaled by American automakers, until now.

The engineers at GM know a good thing when they see it, and with the Tacoma’s excellent sales figures despite a heavily outdated chassis, it was only a matter of time until an American automaker threw their hat in the ring to get a piece of the pie. New for 2015 is a completely redesigned Chevy Colorado, a midsize truck aimed at making a significant dent in the Tacoma’s sales figures and hopefully swaying buyers who don’t need a full-size truck to consider the Silverado’s little brother. While “little” doesn’t accurately describe the 2015 Colorado, it is smaller than full-size and we at Offroad Xtreme have one for a week long review!

We are going to be bringing you a full review of what it’s like to live with the 2015 Chevy Colorado Z71 and whether or not it’s a suitable replacement for a full-size truck.
