HELLAÂ made its way to the SEMA Show this year with some rather interesting items. Jamie Barnes, a senior regional sales manager for the company, was on hand to point out some of the more intriguing products on display.
We first stopped at the Optilux LED line, which were square lamps and light bars that could really project illumination in a variety of ways. “One of our new additions to the market is the curved light bar,” he said. “It’s 50-inches wide and has 96 LEDs. On either side, you’ll find the flood LEDs and in the middle, you’ll find the spot LEDs. What this does is throw a lot out at the sides, and then straight out ahead so that the visibility increases and users will never outrun the light.”
Next, Barnes showed us the new High Performance Xenon 2.0 bulbs, which are sold as a kit to use in a variety of applications. “These bulbs generate a brighter, purer light than that seen in halogen bulbs, giving drivers illumination that’s closer to natural daylight than anything else,” said Barnes.
And it can’t hurt that on top of all this, HELLA’s LEDs draw only a third the power needed to do their job, a vast improvement over the H7 halogen bulbs used elsewhere. What’s more, the rigorous testing processes for all of the company’s auxiliary lamps ensure terrific durability, with five hours devoted to mud spray (off-roading), one hour of below-freezing and near-boiling temperatures, one hour of water spray to simulate torrential rain, and one hour of vibration testing at 750 oscillations per minute.
HELLA takes the ideas and conventions behind lighting and revolutionizes them to the nth degree, easily making them worthy of mention here in Off Road Xtreme. Find out more about the company and its products by viewing HELLA’s contact information below.
