FOX Racing has had itself a very busy year, cranking out some of the most mind-blowing suspension kits and parts to enhance the off-roading experience for racers and enthusiasts alike. We caught up with the company at the 2014 Lucas Oil Off Road Expo last month, where we got a pretty good look at what the company’s RAD (short for Racing Applications Development) department was cooking up.

The stars of that show are back and in action once again, including the 3.5 iRD Bypass shock absorber, which featured a tuner-like device that offers users the convenience of adjusting the shock’s ride characteristics while sitting inside the cab of the vehicle. Brian Godfrey, FOX’s truck and offroad marketing manager, was able to share a little insight into the product.

“Different situations call for different shocks, which is how our iRD unit operates,” he explained. “In racing applications, these trucks can hold up to 90 gallons of fuel, and as they’re burning through that fuel, the weight of the truck is constantly changing. Our iRD shock is capable of adjusting for that across different levels for maximum performance.”

Elsewhere, we got a look at another RAD-program product, the 2.0 bump stop IFP. “We made this bump stop unique in that it has a reservoir built into it,” said Godfrey. “It extends into the shaft and circulates the oil through holes, pushing down a free-floating piston to prevent cavitation.”

The bump stop is currently still in testing, with intentions to be released as part of a bolt-on Jeep kit, according to Godfrey.
