Ford Announces 2015 F-150 Pricing, We Tell You What You Get For It

Ford has officially released pricing on the newly-revamped 2015 aluminum-bodied Ford F-150, which is due to arrive at dealerships this fall. The incoming truck’s price tag has been raised between one and eight percent depending on base trim line.

Ford also trimmed the number of models available from 11 to five, but have no fear, there have been rumors that we will be seeing the Raptor’s return in the next couple of years.

The least expensive incoming truck, the XL, is equipped with the 3.5L V6 that cranks out 283 horsepower and has a base price of $25,420 (plus the $1,195 destination/delivery charge), that’s $395 over the 2014 model. The XLT will jump $360 over the base price of the 2014 model. These two models combined account for about 65 to 70 percent of F-150 sales volume.

The Lariat will get a boost of $1,045 over the 2014 model-year base price. The Platinum model comes in at the most expensive with a $52,155 starting price, increasing $3,055 over last year, but the biggest price increase belongs to the King Ranch, which will jump $3,615 to $49,690.

During an exclusive interview with Ford Truck Public Relations Manager Mike Levine, Off Road Xtreme Editor Stuart Bourdon got the inside scoop on exactly what buyers will get for that extra money. Levine said, “We didn’t just bump the prices up for no reason. There’s a lot more standard content offered in the all-new 2015 Ford F-150 than ever before.”

“Standard for 2015 in the F-150 XL will be items such as a telescoping steering column, 2.3-inch display messaging center, 4.2-inch LCD center stack display, two additional speakers, and driver’s door spotters mirror. The XLT will offer as standard content all of that plus the BoxLink cargo management system, and power tailgate lock.”

“The 2015 Lariat base truck standard content will add to that the 8-inch LCD center stack display over the 4.2-inch display, LED lighting in the bed box, heated and cooling seats, power folding mirrors, and a rear camera.”

“On top of the Lariat content, standard offerings in the new King Ranch will be a power tailgate lock and release, LED headlights and tail lights, LED ground spotlights in the side mirrors, and two 400-watt outlets in the front and rear seating areas.”

“The top of the line Platinum model for 2015 adds Ford’s Blind Sport Information System, inflatable rear seat belts, and multi contour front seats (think massaging). As well, packages such as chrome, sport (similar to the 2014 STX), and FX4 (that contains the e-locker, off-road tuned suspension, and underbelly shields) will still be available.”

While production will not begin until the fourth quarter, dealers can begin ordering the truck as early as yesterday.

The trucks are also expected to weigh about 700 pounds less than their equivalent predecessors. In addition, Ford has released the F-150’s new engine lineup pricing. To upgrade from the least powerful, the 3.5L naturally aspirated V6, to the most powerful, the twin-turbocharged EcoBoost 3.5L V6, will run you an extra $1,995–$100 down from last year’s model.

Between the two are the 2.7L EcoBoost engine making 325 horsepower and costing $495 over the base engine, followed by the 5.0L V8. Each will be paired with an automatic six-speed transmission. Horsepower ratings for the 2015 3.5L EcoBoost and 5.0L V8, and estimated fuel economy ratings have yet to be released.
