Your vehicle is obviously American-made if it features a bright blue oval, gold bowtie or silver ram on the front nose, right? Well, not exactly. Based on the Cars.com’s 2014 American-Made Index, you would probably be surprised at just how few vehicles actually meet the brand’s criteria for American-made. But, the good news is that one of America’s favorite trucks remains at the top of the list this year and that is the Ford F-150. The Cars.com American-Made Index tests vehicles based on three things: That 75 percent or more of the vehicle’s parts are made here in the US, the vehicle’s final assembly is taken care of here in the States and strength of the vehicle’s sales. Vehicles without predecessors or that are planned to be discontinued are ineligble for the list, no matter how American they really are.

Because of this criteria, only 10 vehicles met Cars.com’s standards for its American-Made Index, making it an easy choice which vehicles hit the mark. These vehicles included newcomers to the list, the Chevy Corvette and SRT Viper, in addition to the Toyota Tundra and Honda Ridgeline, two of only three trucks (if you call the Ridgeline a truck) on the list.

On top of the list is Ford’s flagship truck, the F-150.

Assembled in Dearborn, Michigan and Claycomo, Missouri, the F-150 remained at the top of the list this year due to “strong sales and continued domestic-parts sourcing,” according to Cars.com.

This is also why the Toyota Camry remained in the second-place position for another year as well.
