When big-time off-road racers post announcements to social media, it’s almost as exciting as watching the Mint 400 or a short-course race up close and personal. The most recent internet shoutout came from none other than “Ballistic” BJ Baldwin, who made a very interesting post to his Facebook fan page.
“Big announcement this weekend,” he said in the post. “Making some big changes here with our Motorsports program. We’ve been working really hard on this. Some of my close friends are in on the secret. In four more days I’ll let the rest of you in. Thank you for your continued support.”
The image, shown above, is hard to dissect given the black and white coloration as well as the blurring brushstrokes all over it; but let’s have some fun and give it a shot anyways. Right off the bat, we can tell it has a truck-like shape to it, and scaled against the RV in the background, it’s of a smaller shape. It’s certainly smaller than a three-quarter-ton, and smaller than a standard Trophy Truck. This helps us narrow things down.
Baldwin loves his motor vehicles, whether it's the trophy truck or UTV. But what could the blurry rig be???
On the one hand, this could be Baldwin’s very own short-course truck, marking his first entrance into the motorsport. Whether it’s a Pro 2, Pro 4, or Pro Lite, we can’t tell, but this is certainly one way to interpret the photo. Commenters on the photo have suggested that two other big things are going on here: one, that BJ is dropping Chevrolet for Ford, and two, that Monster Energy is being dropped as well, but as for whom is replacing the title sponsor, no one seems to know.
Either way, we’ll be back with more on this teaser in the coming days. What do you think is going over at Team Baldwin? Let us know in the comments below.
EDITED: This post just popped up on Baldwin’s Facebook page today, May 5th, at around 10am Pacific Standard Time. Come on, BJ, just give us the details!
