After the severe storms that hit Missouri a couple of weeks ago, Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORRS) has canceled the May 21, 2019 race at the Wheatland Lucas Oil Speedway track. The track and entire compound was hit hard and is now undergoing a significant rebuild.
To make up for the lost races, the racing sanction has announced they are expanding the next two upcoming events. The OPTIMA Batteries Silver State Showdown, at the Wild West Motorsports Park in Sparks, Nevada, will not feature action on both Friday, July 25 and Saturday, July 27. Then in October, the Rockstar Energy Golden State Off Road Nationals at Glen Helen Raceway in San Bernardino, California will have back-to-back nights of racing on Saturday, October 5 and Sunday, October 6.
“Our round at the track was slated to be a dual-points event,” Explained Bill Smith, LOORRS Race Director. “So we decided the best course of action to fill the void left in Wheatland’s absence was to expand our weekends at Wild West Motorsports Park and Glen Helen Raceway.”
The Wheatland track was a state-of-the-art and multi-purpose facility prior to the extreme weather. LOORRS is thankful there were no serious injuries. The extensive repairs will take time. “We know Lucas Oil Speedway will be bigger and better when we make our return next summer,” Smith added.
Until then, attendees going to the Nevada races in July and California races in October will get extra racing action to enjoy.
