GMC has announced that is will be making the 2015 Sierra available with a new package called “All-Terrain HD.” Giving a nod and a wink to the off-roading lifestyle, the option comes packed with a standard set of upgrades, but rest assured, this is not GM’s answer to the Ford SVT Raptor. It is, however, just the sort of truck you would be looking for to replace that aging Denali.
The All-Terrain HD package will be made available on the 2500HD or 3500HD double cab and crew cab models. Buyers must have selected the SLE or SLT trims with the 4WD option checked as well, because the package comes with a slick electronically controlled transfer case. Gas and diesel preferences are satisfied, with the 6.0L V-8 as standard and the Duramax 6.6L V-8 as an option.
But all this would be just bells and whistles without some real improvements to handling. To that end, GMC has included Rancho twin-tubes on all fours, hill descent control, and a skid plate protecting the underside.
The expected badging and brightwork add-ons are here in full display, with ALL TERRAIN emblazoned on the gauge cluster, the door sills, and the doors themselves. Meanwhile, chrome beautifies the mirrors, body side moldings, and front lower bumper plate.
What sets the All Terrain HD up for success are its creature comforts, essentially turning the truck into a mobile office space. 4G LTE connection, a standard built-in WiFi hotspot, and GMC’s signature Intellilink infotainment system are the main attractions here, which will hopefully make long trips more lively and enjoyable, be they with the construction crew or the family.
“The new 2015 GMC Sierra HD lineup helps customers tackle tough jobs more comfortably, and with the new All Terrain HD, they can do it with greater style,” said Duncan Aldred, vice president of GMC Sales and Marketing. “Equally comfortable whether it’s a night on the town or traversing a remote job site, it has all the capability that customers demand from a GMC heavy-duty truck on the job.”
