Roof Space 4: The Most Spacious Rooftop Tent On The Market Today

If you use your 4×4 for overlanding or general camping, Roof Space, a rooftop tent (RTT) manufacturer, has unveiled something you need to see. It’s called the Roof Space 4, and it’s said to have a setup time of just 30 seconds, more sleeping space than a California King-size bed, and a weight of just 196 pounds. The company claims it’s the most spacious hardshell rooftop tent on the market today.

The Roof Space 4 rooftop tent is said to be ideal for larger trucks and SUVs.

Sleeps Up To Six People, Room For Storage, And Dual Redundant Stability Systems

The Roof Space 4 is said to have a capacity of four to six people. Even though it offers the ease of use and durability of a hardshell tent, it has a small mounting footprint and the space of a softshell tent. The company says the Roof Space 4 is ideal for larger trucks and SUVs that have a dynamic roof load capacity of at least 198 pounds.

When folded, the RTT measures 87 inches long, 53.5 inches wide, and 9.4 inches tall. But when deployed, the Roof Space 4’s interior dimensions are a roomy 98.4 inches long, 82.7 inches wide, and 51.2 inches tall. For comparison, a California King mattress has a length of 84 inches and a width of 72 inches.

There’s extra space at the head and foot of the Roof Space 4’s mattress for storage. It’s also worth noting that the Roof Space 4 is designed so bedding for at least four people can be left inside when the unit is closed for travel. Another feature of the Roof Space 4 is its dual built-in redundant stability systems, which are said to make the tent extremely durable.

The Roof Space 4 features Double Panorama Mode, which allows both sides of the tent to fully open.

Industry-First, Cabana-Like Double Panorama Mode

One of the unique features of the RTT is its Double Panorama Mode. This industry-first feature allows both sides of the tent to fully open, creating a cabana-like experience that offers panoramic views. When it’s time to sleep, you simply zip the panels back into place to return the tent to its normal mode.

Includes Mattress, Ladder, Roof Rack Brackets, And More

The Roof Space RTT includes the case and tent, along with a high-quality 2-inch-thick TPU foam mattress that measures 80.7 inches long and 78.7 inches wide. The mattress has an integrated anti-condensation mesh and a washable quilted cover. Additionally, the Roof Space 4 features a 102-inch telescoping ladder (with a patent-pending ladder quick attachment system), four spring-steel rods, six roof rack brackets with hardware, six roof rack adapters, and a gear bag. The tent is constructed from 320-gram per square meter ripstop polyester fabric with a PVC coating, while the case is made from 5052 aluminum. The Roof Space 4 RTT has an MSRP of $4,599.99.

When deployed, the Roof Space 4’s interior dimensions are a roomy 98.4 inches long, 82.7 inches wide, and 51.2 inches tall.

About Roof Space

Roof Space was the brainchild of Immanuel Schneider and Jakob Heider, two long-time friends who love travel and the outdoors. In 2020, they were inspired to build a rooftop tent, and their company began in a garage. They had the vision but note that “learning by doing” and “trial and error” became their guiding principles.

In 2022, the pair started a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo. The campaign was a success, not only financially but also in terms of community engagement. Later, the duo refined the design of the RTTs based on feedback from customers.

Today, the company has 67 dealer locations in 17 countries. Roof Space offers the Roof Space 2 in addition to the Roof Space 4 RTTs. Additionally, the company offers a variety of other products, including an insulation kit and Panorama Mosquito Net for the Roof Space 2, along with an awning and more.
