Back in January Ford announced what we were all hoping to hear, that the F-150 Raptor would be returning soon, and with a twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 under the hood. The new Raptor is still undergoing testing though, meaning we’ve still got some time to go before the next-gen Raptor is ready to debut. It likely won’t be until this time next year that the new Raptor is finally ready to hit dealerships.

Despite the lack of the Raptor right now, Hennessey co-opted your standard Ford F-150 4×4 and put their own twist on it, starting with a Whipple supercharged 6.2-liter V8. It’s feed cool air by an air-to-water intercooler, with upgraded fuel injectors and a cold air intake cramming more power into the big engine, and we’re pretty certain Hennessey will work some solid suspension upgrades into its yellow dinosaur as well.

Beyond the engine, a full compliment of Hennessey badging comes standard, while optional upgrades include the beefy front and rear bumpers, a LED light bar and beefier off-road tires. Further details will undoubtedly be revealed at the 2015 SEMA show that convenes on the Las Vegas Convention Center in three weeks time.

With a six-month build time, it could be in your driveway months before the official Blue Oval version of the Raptor is ready. Hennessey is known for its over-the-top performance vehicles, and slapping a supercharger on just about everything, so it really comes down to personal preference. Do you prefer a nice set of turbos, or does the singular supercharger do it for you?
