If you are a gamer, you are probably anticipating the release of one of the most popular franchises in video games: Halo 5: Guardians. Ford, Xbox, 343 Industries and Galpin Auto Sports are getting ready for the release of Halo 5 at E3 with a one-of-a-kind 2015 Ford F-150 that looks reminiscent of the Warthog out of the video game.
The Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) is to the video game world as SEMA is to the auto industry. This year, E3 is June 15th to the 18th at the Los Angeles Convention Center, showcasing all the new games and technology for onlookers from all over the world.
This F-150 is like nothing else out there. The Sandcat is based on the all-new 2015 Ford F-150, which is one of the most capable, toughest and smartest vehicles out there. With that in mind the Sandcat has been officially designated the M552 codename by the “United Nations Space Command”, the space marines (read: good guys) from the Halo universe, which happened to closely match Ford’s codename for the F-150–that being P552.
The Sandcat started as a 2015 Ford F-150 Lariat SuperCrew 4×4 before Master Chief got his hands on it. It has the EcoBoost 3.5-liter V6 engine and FX4 off-road package. Galpin Auto Sports did most of the modifications to the truck to give it a militaristic style that Halo fans will instantly love.
Some of the parts that have been added to the Sandcat are an Addictive Desert Designs’ Baja XTR off-road conversion kit, which includes custom FOX Racing shocks, Deaver leaf springs, a Currie full floater rear axle, ADD fenders, side steps, a chase rack, and 17-inch wheels with Nitto Extreme Terrain tires to go along with a full custom Halo body wrap.
The inside got a touch of Halo with seats to match the color scheme. There’s even an Xbox One custom gaming system that can be played on the displays mounted on the rears of the front seats.
If you cannot make it out to E3 in Los Angeles to see the Sandcat on display in the South Hall entrance, do not worry; the truck will be shown at several public events leading up to the launch of Halo 5: Guardians on October 27th.
