When Ford released the Raptor back in 2010 everyone wanted one. Unfortunately, the Raptor isn’t cheap to build which made the retail price relatively high. Fast forward to 2017 and there is a new Raptor which is even better than the original. This also made some first generation Raptors seven years old and they’re popping up all over the used market.

Craigslist Price
After hearing about how cheap old Raptors are we decided to hop on Craigslist and check it out. Immediately we found a bunch of Raptors well into the $50,000+ range. While all those $50,000 Raptors were absolutely pristine they weren’t what we were looking for.
We played with the maximum price adjuster and sure enough, we found Raptors in the $25,000 to $35,000 range. Think about how much you’re getting for $30,000: a powerful V8, suspension with a ton of travel, and a rear locker.
Still Has That V8 Sound
Although the new 3.5-liter Ecoboost Raptor engine is more powerful it just doesn’t sound like a truck. If you hate the fact that Ford dropped the V8 then a used Raptor might be your answer. Plus with a supercharger and some bolt-on parts, a used Raptor can be way more powerful than a new Raptor.
Lack of Warranty
As much as we all love the idea of buying an old Raptor, we know some people also love the idea of having a warranty. At this point, most used Raptors will be out of warranty unless there is some sort of extended warranty. If you value a warranty, then buying a used Raptor might not be the best choice for you.
Extremely High Value
Exhaust sound and warranty aside, why should you buy a used Raptor? Well, you need to think about everything you’re getting when you buy a Raptor.
Sure you could buy a truck and throw some nice suspension on it, but will the suspension ever be as well tuned as the Raptors suspension? The Raptors suspension was literally fine tuned by Ford and Fox to make the most of its suspension travel. You’re also getting a rear locker, custom interior, and 35-inch tires for around $30,000. That is pretty darn impressive.
Since the rise of the Raptor other manufacturers have jumped on board with their own rendition.
This brings up another question. Why should I buy a used Raptor when I could buy something like a Chevy ZR2 or Toyota TRD Pro? It’s true that for $41,000 you could buy a brand new Chevy ZR2.
You could also buy a brand new Tundra TRD Pro for $44,000, but doing so, you would miss the point entirely. The point here is that you’re buying a truck that was once around $50,000 for only $30,000 and both of those trucks are significantly more expensive than a used Raptor.
Summary
If you ever wanted to buy a Ford Raptor, now is the time to buy one. The Raptors we found in our local area were around $30,000, but the ones in your area might be even cheaper. For that price and the features and benefits make this a no brainer type of purchase.
