Off-roading is a sport or hobby of evolution. Projects and builds begin as something small, but over time they evolve. Whether you are an enthusiast or a professional racer this is no different.
We had the chance to catch back up with Jason Blanton to see how his new Ultra4 car is coming along. After using a “rental car” in this year’s King of the Hammers, Blanton has been busy working on putting the last details on the vehicle.
Optima Batteries has been behind Blanton and his vehicle. “I have been doing a lot on the new car since King of the Hammers working with Optima,” Blanton explained. “I will be running a couple of batteries: a Red top and Blue top. I will be testing a couple different Optima batteries to see what will work best with motor and charging system.”
“In the past the I have used the Yellow and Red top and they have worked great.,” Blanton continued. “The Red top is for cranking amps and the Yellow top is great for all the accessories we have to run.”

“I am hoping to finish up the vehicle within the next month or so,” Blanton explained. “We have the fuel cell mounted, cooling system, mounted the motor, and started working on the interior.”
We look forward to seeing the vehicle completed and it back out at King of the Hammers in February. Until then, we stay updated on the progress of the build so be sure to keep checking back!
