What’s at the top of every Jeep fan’s ultimate wish list? That would have to be a four-door Wrangler pickup truck. While the builder of the most recognizable vehicle in the world hasn’t offered anything akin to it since the Scrambler was introduced, American Expedition Vehicles (AEV) does build one. It’s called the Brute Double Cab and it’s one heck of a 4×4. Now AEV is offering this awesome and unique off-roader with upscale adornment in cooperation with outdoor clothing manufacturer Filson.
All by itself, the AEV Brute is something else. Based on the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, it is converted into a pickup by AEV’s manufacturing arm, Quality Metalcraft in Michigan. The four-door gets 23-inches added to its wheelbase, another 16-inches to the rear overhang, and keeps the stock dimensions of the cabin, while featuring a 61×60-inch cargo bed. About 75-percent of AEV’s parts are built in house at Quality Metalcraft, the rest are manufactured to order by Tier 1 OEM suppliers.
Basic Brute Double Cab mechanicals include an AEV front bumper, AEV rear bumper, AEV under mount tire carrier, AEV front skid plate, AEV heat reduction hood, and an Extang Trifecto tonneau cover. Also part of the package are a Warn 9.5cti winch, IPF 901 off-road lights, AEV 3.5-inch DualSport SC suspension, AEV 17-inch Black Savage wheels, and BFGoodrich 35-inch Mud-Terrain tires.
The Filson Edition Brute Double Cab model also gets custom Filson Green paint, unique Filson rugged twill and leather interior, custom Filson bulkhead storage bag and briefcase, and exclusive Filson badging. Power comes from either a 5.7L or 6.4L HEMI V8. The Filson Brute Double Cab can serve as an alternative to Land Rover Defenders, the Mercedes-Benz G-Class, and Toyota Land Cruisers, especially for hardcore Wrangler fans.
