Off-road enthusiasts love to argue about which trail breaks the most parts, but the debate usually ends at the Rubicon Trail. The TacomaBeast crew decided to challenge that assumption by heading to Fordyce Creek, a location many locals claim is actually America’s Hardest Trail.

Early Carnage On Driveline Hill

The group faced serious trouble long before reaching the main obstacles. They started at Driveline Hill, a spot notorious for snapping axles. The terrain immediately proved unforgiving when David attempted a line on a rock that nobody else had touched. He pushed a little too hard and flopped his truck right onto its roof. The team had to act fast, anchoring a winch from the top while pulling from below to keep the rig from rolling further down the steep mountain. Amazingly, once they flipped the Toyota back onto its wheels, it fired up on the first try. David cleared the cylinders, fixed his mud flaps, and got right back in the driver’s seat.

Surviving America’s Hardest Trail Challenges

The chaos continued at Winch Hill 1. While some drivers made the climb look easy, David pushed his luck again and flipped his truck for the second time in one day. The recovery team worked quickly to get him upright so they could press forward. Winch Hill 2 offered no relief as the obstacles were dug out and far worse than usual. Jen took a majestic line up the wall but popped a tire bead halfway up. The crew had to reseat the tire right on the trail using brake cleaner and fire before limping into camp after dark.

Redemption At Winch Hill 3

After a night where David accidentally drove over the narrator’s sleeping spot, the team woke up ready for Winch Hill 3. Since the main TacomaBeast truck was out of commission, the narrator borrowed a rental rig from a local shop to attempt the climb. He successfully navigated the rocks, feeling like he finally broke the curse of the broken truck. David also found redemption, choosing the hard line and conquering the obstacle despite his previous rollovers.

The Final Say On Fordyce

The team ran out of time before they could complete every mile, but they saw enough to respect the terrain. The combination of deep water, massive boulders, and relentless technical features makes Fordyce a legitimate contender for the top spot. The crew agreed that this experience lived up to every bit of the hype. It turns out that the only way to truly find the limit is to drive until you hit it.
