This year Weld Racing has something very special to showcase at the annual SEMA Show that must be seen to be believed. Its brand-new wheel, the REKON, available for Jeep Wranglers and Ford SVT Raptors, is an exciting new design from the company that’s been in business since 1967, when sprint car racer and entrepreneur Greg Weld needed to build himself a better wheel.
Best of all, the REKON wheel is the first application of Weld’s all-new Advanced Tactical Coating (ATC), a proprietary nano-ceramic barrier that protects the wheel against mud, abrasions and corrosion. ATC seals in Weld’s signature mirror shine with no dulling or discoloration.
The new REKON is a one-piece forged aluminum design for greater strength, will be available in 17×9-inch and 20×8.5-inch sizes, and an optional Bead-loc will be available for the 17-incher. All REKON wheels will be produced in five-and six-lug patterns.
You can rest assured that Weld Racing stands by its products. “We test every wheel in-house,” said Chris Bovis, vice president of marketing. “We have a full engineering department and a destructive test lab where we compare our products to the competition, as well as our company standards for weight and durability. Each Weld product is fully tested and proven before it is offered for sale.”
The aesthetic design of the reliefs and lettering is a theme that carries through many of the company’s products, with cut-outs on the rim-lip paying homage to the early days of Weld’s truck-wheel designs. It comes in a black anodized finish.
The new REKON is a great looking wheel, and one that’s sure to catch more than a few eyes at this year’s SEMA Show.
