In the last few years, the Ford Fairmont has become a popular platform among drag racers due to being inexpensive, light and, shall we say, somewhat Plain Jane, making them the perfect sleeper car. One man in Saskatchewan was tired of people not looking twice at his ’78 Fairmont, so he transformed it into a tank. Arguably the coolest Fairmont we may have ever seen, this one needed a way to get around the frozen tundra of Canada so the owner took a Fairmont project and made it into the ultimate Arctic cruiser.
The Fairmont sedan body sits atop of a Sno Cat chassis. The chassis’ extra wide tracks allow this Grandma sedan to plow across through the snow and ice, and gives it the ability to crush cars like a Sherman tank. According to Bangshift commenter Chevy Hatin’ Mad Geortie “What you don’t know is the fact that the running gear of the Fairmont is now under a Sherman Tank, which is used for taking out Chevys at every opportunity. There’s 23 “bowtie” trophies under the turret and the owner says he won’t stop till every inch of available space is covered.” We have a feeling this is one Fairmont you don’t want to call ugly.
While no interior pictures were provided, we wonder if this machine is still controlled by the traditional pedal and steering wheel or the controls have been replaced with tank levers and sticks. The owner has listed the car for sale, asking for $15,000 or to trade for something of “equal value,” in his words a Tri-Five Chevy, late 60’s Nova, dune buggies or something interesting.
Would you pay $15K for this Chevy crushing machine or trade a valuable classic muscle car for it? Let us know what you think in the Comments section below!
