This week, while browsing the Insurance Auto Auctions website, we came across a red off-road truck in paradise: the Hawaiian islands. We found a 2012 Dodge Ram 1500 that may have just been having a little too much fun in the sun.
We wouldn’t think of Hawaii as a off-road location, unless we had a Jeep and wanted to venture up and down a volcano before it would explode–but we must be wrong. This 2012 Ram 1500 looks like it was out enjoying itself before it came to its final resting spot.
With large aftermarket wheels and tires, Bushwacker fenders, and sidestep running boards, this Ram looks like it was meant to enjoy the trails out on the islands. It’s got four-wheel-drive, but lacks the Hemi engine and instead has the less desirable 4.7-liter V8.
The interior of the vehicle looks to be untouched and very clean for having the modifications done for the dirt. Other than the interior being clean, there is not much else done to the insides. The 1500 was definitely driven, though, having almost 29,000 miles on it.
Very clean, stock interior
It would be nice if that was all we could say about the truck, but it is far from over. One thing we do not have to worry about off-roading on the trails in the mountains or out in the desert, but one thing you apparently need to be on the look out for in paradise, is palm trees. The truck really lived up it to its name and apparently center-punched one prior to winding up in the scrapyard.
Front End Damage
The front end damage is quite severe. Yes, we can still make out the front end of the truck, but that V-shaped bumper is far too distracting. The more imaginative viewers wouldn’t be able to resists the low-hanging fruit here and not say, “The Ram now has horns!”
The radiator is pushed into the motor and the hood looks like it just pitched a tent. The surprising thing about the truck and the damage is the ad states that the truck still starts.
Taking in all the pros and cons of this wrecked truck, if you are in the market for a 4×4 project to start on your vacation, this is the one for you. Even if you are not on holiday and had the opportunity to snatch this one up at a reasonable price, this 2012 Dodge Ram 1500 would be a great, easy pick to bring back to life on the trail.
