Why The Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series Finale Is A Must See Event

Well after following the 2019 Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series all season, the time has finally come to see who will be champion, and what better way to go out with a bang than in Arizona’s very own “Valley of the Sun.” With the series returning to the Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park for the second time this season, Saturday, October 26th, is sure to offer an action-packed ninth and final round for contestants and fans alike, as all nine divisions look to crown champions.

With a hefty amount of cash up for grabs, as well as unbridled bragging rights, this special showcase of short-course off-road anarchy is sure to thrill those in attendance. While not always at the top of everyone’s list for off-road action, Arizona has seen a dramatic spike in racing events in recent years, with characters like reigning Turbo UTV Champion Corry Weller and Mod Kart point leader Mason Prater leading the charge. This grand finale for the 2019 season marks the fourth consecutive year that Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park has served as the final battleground for the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series, and this year’s finalists appear ready to give it their all.

With Arizona natives Weller and Prater at the forefront, both racers strive to maintain their point lead and snag one last short course off-road title. Earlier in the season, during the first rendezvous in Chandler, Arizona, both Weller and Prater secured wins in their classes in front of a hometown crowd. Meanwhile, current point leaders Kyle LeDuc in Pro 4 and Robert Stout in the Production 1000 UTV class took home titles, as both drivers now look to make Wild Horse Pass a winning track for the second time this season. Although LeDuc has RJ Anderson and Doug Mittag to contend with, an extremely tight Pro 2 championship pits Rodrigo Ampudia against Jerett Brooks, while Pro-Lite badass Ryan Beat pursues back-to-back titles.

The extremely tense racing seen in the last bout a few weeks back serves as a teaser for what some are now calling, “… arguably the most exciting [racing] afternoon of the season.” This last match we speak of saw former Pro 2 class champion Jeremy McGrath snag the spotlight, while Rodrigo Ampudia accelerated his chances of winning his first career title after securing a narrow five point lead over Jerett Brooks. Meanwhile, five other drivers, including defending champ Rob MacCachren, all retain a shot at securing the divisional crown.

As for Pro 4, things are a little more widely spread, as LeDuc sits a respectable 26 points ahead of defending champion RJ Anderson. Although 2019 has been an extremely solid season for LeDuc, and many expect a fifth Pro 4 title to land in his lap come next weekend, the do-or-die attitude found within the competition continues to resonate strongly.

Over in Pro Lite, Ryan Beat strives to secure a record as the second straight driver to win back-to-back titles in what has arguably become the most competitive division in the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series. Despite fending off Brock Heger and Mickey Thomas, just 11 points of separation reside between Beat and his adversaries. So with six drivers all having a chance at securing the title, this final Pro Lite race of the season looks to be one hell of a wild ride. That said, four other classes have permitted 10 points or fewer to separate the point leader from his or her closest rival. This guarantees that battles are sure to break out across the board come this weekend, much to the delight of the thousands of fans in the grandstands.

High-flying and death-defying, 2019 has provided a truly memorable season of action for fans of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series. If you have never attended one of these races in person, we highly encourage you to head-out and see what the fuss is all about, for there truly is no other form of racing quite like it. Here, chassis contact is encouraged, and unpredictable off-road terrain provides tons of torque-filled twists and overturned vehicles.
