2015 has been a landmark year for truckbuyers in the United States. We saw the proliferation of the Ford F-150, Chevy Colorado, and GMC Canyon, while Toyota has been pushing its 2016 Tacoma on the midsize market to duke it out with GM. Meanwhile, Ram has been riding the wave of success with its EcoDiesel engine, promoting high efficiency and strong towing numbers as its edge in the marketplace.
So that leaves just Nissan, who has been busy pushing the 2016 Titan XD as the new half-ton entry. The big fuss, as you may or may not know, is all about the 5.0-liter turbodiesel Cummins V8 sitting under the hood, making a reported 310 horsepower and 555 pound-feet of torque. Rumors have been circulating about the Titan XD for the better part of the year, including what it means for Ram and Cummins’ partnership for the future, how half-ton buyers will treat a “Japanese” truck built with an American motor, and what the pricing will be like.
We now have definite answers for that last question. Today, Nissan announced the pricing breakdown of the Titan, with packages ranging from the base model S to the top-of-the-line Platinum Reserve. It seems the cheapest version will run with an MSRP of $41,485, while the most expensive version will cost $66,135 with all of the options ticked. Here is the full list:
Time will tell if the public likes the Titan XD and if it represents the right direction for Nissan to take. We have yet to review the truck ourselves, but look forward to doing so soon. In the meantime, we’ll just keep waiting for the Frontier to undergo a makeover, too.
