In West Michigan, overlooking the shore of Lake Michigan are the Silver Lake Sand Dunes. For decades, gearheads and truck lovers have flocked to this state park which is one of the few remaining places in the U.S. that you can freely drive on sand dunes.
Decades of prevailing westerly Great Lakes winds transformed a ridge of sand dunes over looking Silver Lake into 2,000 acres of spectacular, moving sand dunes along four miles of Lake Michigan shoreline.
These sand dunes provide a lot of fun to off-road enthusiasts, who gather to see several vehicles flying through the sky in attempts to beat gravity at her own game.
Check out the white Ranger getting some serious air as it makes several jumps. Then we have a lifted GMC Crew Cab that easily gets some airtime. With four doors, you can pile the whole family in and head home afterwards.
Mostly Ford and GM trucks here, well, it IS Michigan State. Unlike the West Coast, they all probably known someone who works in the auto industry. So we know where their loyalties are, right? Keeping it “local.”
For crash junkies, fast forward to 3:35 and see a black rig roll over and land on its side. We love it when it’s someone else’s rig, hate it when it’s our pride and joy. At 5:09, check out the dueling runs with two rigs jumping at once, there’s even a motorcycle in the mix as well.
