For just about 50 years, TREMEC has been offering heavy-duty transmissions to the performance automotive market. But what happens if your off-road vehicle is a massive beast that would blow right through a “normal” transmission? Well, lucky for you, TREMEC has a solution and it comes in the form of their 4-speed Auxiliary Transmission recently featured on the company’s Facebook page.
The 4-speed Auxiliary Transmission, or “Aux Box” for short, is TREMEC’s answer to unbelievable levels of torque. Reminiscent of old-school mining equipment, this insane transmission is the ultimate heavy-duty off-highway vehicle gearbox.
Although on the heavy side of things at a whopping 550lbs without the Power Take Off (PTO), this bad boy can accept torque numbers upwards of 17,500 lb-ft in vehicles weighing up to 40 tons! Now if your off-road vehicle can beat numbers like that, we don’t know what to say.
The Aux Box is merely one option in a long list of medium to heavy-duty transmissions that TREMEC offers, but the mere size and capabilities of this bad boy just made us want to share. After all, chances are that your off-highway vehicle is far from weighing 40 tons and producing 17,500lb-ft of torque, but it’s good to know that there are options out there for the extreme off-road vehicle!
