Toyo Unveils All-New Open Country R/T Pro Rugged Terrain Hybrid Tire

Toyo Tires has revealed its all-new Open Country R/T Pro, a rugged terrain hybrid M/T tire. It will initially be available in 50 sizes and load combinations for 17-24 inch wheel diameters. Additionally, there’s great news for those wanting to run larger tires under their 4x4s, as it will be available in sizes up to a 42-inch diameter.

Created To Handle A Wide Variety Of Terrains And Conditions

The Open Country R/T Pro will replace the Open Country R/T that Toyo first introduced in 2014. The company says the new tire takes its original rugged terrain tire to the next level. This tire is designed to handle a wide variety of terrain and conditions, including dirt, sand, mud, rocks, and snow. It features an advanced tread design with an aggressive pattern, including omni-directional-shaped tread blocks, an increased void ratio, and lateral grooves to provide improved traction in snow and mud. The hybrid design of the tire is said to enhance comfort and performance while reducing pattern noise, improving ride quality, and offering “confidence-inspiring on-road handling” compared to a traditional mud tire. The Open Country R/T Pro also includes a specially engineered compound, a three-ply sidewall, and large shoulder lugs.

Designed With Off-Road Enthusiast Input

The Open Country R/T Pro will bridge the gap between Toyo’s R/T Trail and the Open Country M/T tires. Todd Bergeson, Senior Manager of Product Planning & Technical Services at Toyo Tire U.S.A. Corp, offered some thoughts on the new tire: “The Open Country product line now features a highly capable, professional-grade Hybrid M/T solution for enthusiasts to fine tune their tire selection with the exciting addition of our newest tire, the Open Country R/T Pro. This tire is a culmination of extensive research and testing. We worked directly with off-road enthusiasts and industry experts across the country, to ensure it will meet both our strict targets and our customers’ expectations for performance and reliability. The result is an aggressive hybrid M/T tire with outstanding performance that will exceed the expectations of our customers.”

Sizes For Stock To Heavily Modified 4x4s

Popular fitments for the Open Country R/T Pro includes everything from stock to heavily modified vehicles. It is backed with a class-leading 45,000-mile treadwear warranty and the Toyo Tires No Regrets 45-Day/500-Mile Trial Offer. The tire will be available beginning in April 2025.
