October 21st, 2015 is national Back to the Future day, as this is the exact day that Marty McFly travels to the future to save his children. In the movie Marty McFly’s dream truck was a black Toyota Hilux 4×4 pickup with Smittybilt bumpers, KC Daylight lights, and roll bar. Toyota has teamed up with the franchise to re-create Marty McFly’s dream truck in the form of a 2016 Toyota Tacoma.
Back to the Future fans will be able to see the truck on display today in many major tourist destinations like Los Angeles, California, New York, New York, and Dallas, Texas. The truck can only be seen today in those select locations.
The 2016 Tacoma was made to look like a modern-day version of the truck from the movie. The truck had many modifications done to it to make it look like the classic. Custom 1985 Toyota Truck exterior paint was used, off-road suspension, and Toyota Racing Development (TRD) wheels with BFGoodrich tires just scratch the surface on what has been done.
Custom front and rear tube bumpers, custom light bar with KC HiLites gravity LED G46 and KC HiLites Daylighter gravity LED lights. Custom “D-4S” fuel injection badging, tailgate with the iconic Toyota logo, vintage headlight and taillight design, and mud flaps from a 1985 Toyota Truck round out all the custom work done to the truck.
The modern recreation of the classic truck makes it feel like we went back to the future. Do you think that Toyota hit it out of the park creating the iconic truck? Tell us in the comments below!
