Forbes, known for their “Top 10” lists and everything regarding finances, is at it again, and this time attacking Jeep owners. Try to restrain your rage Jeepers, but in a recent list by Forbes titled “15 New Cars to Avoid,” the trusty Jeep Wrangler was ranked seventh, followed by the Patriot in sixth, and the Compass in fifth. According to the ranking, the seventh place Wrangler, which included both the two-door and four-door Unlimited variety, were listed as vehicles to avoid due to a few main reasons.
First on Forbes’ list of why they don’t like the trusty Wrangler was how it has “limited passenger comfort, harsh and erratic ride and handling abilities, and excessive wind noise at higher speeds.” While their opinion may be true when comparing the Wrangler to a BMW, Lexus, or any other type of passenger car, the ride, handling, and wind noise are all pretty acceptable when you consider the Wrangler is not a luxury car – it’s an off roader with a removable roof! The list compares vehicles that are in completely different categories with next to no similarities other than that they carry passengers to their destination – and that seems to be a reoccurring issue with these kinds of lists. Even so, Forbes did make note of the high Wrangler resale value but then followed that up with another blow saying that initial quality, performance, and reliability all get low marks from J.D. Power.Â
Forbes had a field day on the Jeep brand which occupied three of the 15 spots on the list. Both the Patriot and Compass, while not dedicated off roaders, were criticized for their performance, reliability, and cheap-feeling interior among other things. As fans of the Jeep brand and even more-so of the Wrangler lineage, we here at Offroad Xtreme just cannot agree with this ranking.
