The Barkley family is back in the driver’s seat, and this time, they’ve traded their doghouse for a fleet of 2026 Subarus. Subaru of America has officially launched the newest chapter of its famous “Dog Tested. Dog Approved” campaign with seven fresh TV spots that premiered during Sunday Night Football. The standout commercial, “The Chase,” features the canine clan in a high-stakes (and adorable) pursuit of the legendary Oscar Mayer Wienermobile.

Leading the charge is the all-new 2026 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid. In the ad, the Barkleys spot the giant hot dog on wheels and immediately give chase, showcasing the crossover’s next-generation powertrain. Under the hood, a 2.5-liter boxer engine pairs with two electric motors to deliver a combined 194 horsepower. With an estimated range of over 600 miles and 42 mpg, the new Crosstrek Hybrid is the perfect tool for a long-distance snack hunt that combines efficiency with power needed to keep up with traffic.

But the campaign is also a major debut for Subaru’s expanding electric lineup. In “Tracking,” the family uses the silent electric drive of the new 2026 Trailseeker EV to sneak up on a squirrel. This electric SUV is more than just quiet; it packs 375 horsepower and 8.3 inches of ground clearance, proving it’s ready for real trails. Another spot, “New Car Smell,” introduces the Uncharted EV, a sporty subcompact crossover that Papa Barkley finds irresistibly fun. With dual motors pushing 338 horsepower and a 0-to-60 mph time under five seconds, it’s a surprisingly quick addition to the family.

The ads also give us a first look at the completely redesigned 2026 Outback and its rugged Wilderness sibling. In “Handwash,” the Barkleys try to clean mud off their Outback Wilderness, revealing a bolder, boxier design that leaves the neighborhood dogs stunned. Basically, the “Dog Tested. Dog Approved” campaign celebrates the bond between Subaru owners and their pets. As Alan Bethke, Senior VP of Marketing, said, “The Barkleys perfectly capture the joy, adventure, and fun-loving nature that defines Subaru owners.” Whether they’re chasing wienermobiles or stalking squirrels, the Barkleys prove that the 2026 lineup is ready for anything.
