If you’ve been waiting for Jeep to bring something fresh, bold, and ready for the trail, the wait is over. The all-new 2026 Jeep Cherokee is here, and it’s packing both heritage and innovation. Jeep looked to its adventurous past, but this time they’ve added a brand-new hybrid turbo-four under the hood, best-in-class off-road ability, and more space than ever before. And it all starts under $40K.
Hybrid Power Meets Jeep Capability
At the heart of the 2026 Jeep Cherokee is Stellantis’ brand-new 1.6-liter turbo-four hybrid powertrain, delivering 210 horsepower and 230 lb-ft of torque. Jeep says this setup can crank out an impressive 37 mpg combined with a range of over 500 miles per tank.
Bob Broderdorf, Jeep’s CEO, put it best, “The 2026 Jeep Cherokee redefines what a modern midsize SUV can and should be – a striking, turbocharged vehicle with 500-plus miles of range, uncompromising safety and the capability to chase every adventure.”
This hybrid isn’t just about sipping fuel, it’s about providing the greatest torque and most range. Production of the new powertrain will kick off at Stellantis’ Dundee Engine Plant in Michigan, keeping the heart of this Jeep close to home.
More Space, More Tech, More Jeep
Step inside, and you’ll see Jeep made sure the Cherokee keeps pace with modern expectations without losing its adventurous edge. The cabin is now bigger and smarter than ever, with a 30-percent increase in cargo space.
Every trim comes with a serious list of standard features, including a 12.3-inch infotainment screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Jeep’s Uconnect 5 system with over-the-air updates, and a 10.25-inch digital cluster. Active Driving Assist along with adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, and pedestrian/cyclist detection are also included.
And if you want to deck it out, Jeep’s giving you options like a dual-pane sunroof, 360-degree camera, ventilated seats, Alexa in-vehicle assistant, and premium audio.
Built for the Trail
No Jeep would be complete without real-deal off-road chops, and the 2026 Jeep Cherokee comes loaded. Standard Jeep Active Drive I 4×4 with rear-axle disconnect and Selec-Terrain traction management give you Auto, Sport, Snow, and Sand/Mud modes at your fingertips.
On paper, the numbers are strong. The new Cherokee offers an approach angle of 19.6 degrees, departure angle of 29.4 degrees, and an 18.8-degree breakover angle. Ground clearance is a solid 8.0 inches.
The 2026 Jeep Cherokee’s Bold New Look
Design-wise, the new Cherokee takes a boxier, more upright stance. It’s longer, taller, and wider than before, pulling inspiration from classic Cherokee lines while blending in modern touches like squared-off LED headlights, U-shaped DRLs, and Jeep’s signature seven-slot grille. Out back, jerrican-inspired taillights give it a unique stamp that’s instantly Jeep.
Inside, Jeep kept things functional but elevated, with recycled materials in the carpets, non-leather options, and trim-specific finishes—like unique perforations on the Overland model.
Vince Galante, Jeep’s VP of global design, summed it up best, “From every angle, the 2026 Jeep Cherokee evokes the best of the brand’s rich design history.”
2026 Jeep Cherokee Pricing and Availability
The Limited and Overland trims will hit dealerships first in late 2025, while the entry-level Cherokee and Laredo will follow in early 2026. Production will roll out from Stellantis’ Toluca Assembly Plant in Mexico. Base Cherokee will start at $36,995 (including destination). The higher-trimmed Laredo will arrive at $39,995 with Limited clocking in at $42,495 and the top-spec Overland at $45,995 before options.
With a fuel-sipping hybrid that cranks out copious torque, more interior space, trail-ready off-road ability, and classic Jeep styling, the 2026 Jeep Cherokee feels like a comeback—but one that doesn’t forget where it came from.
