Subaru is returning to the legendary Rebelle Rally this fall, doubling down with two powerhouse, champion-led teams ready to take on over 1,500 miles of Nevada and California’s toughest desert terrain. The event runs October 8–18, 2025, marking its 10th anniversary as the first and longest women’s off-road navigation rally in the U.S.
If you’ve never followed the Rebelle before, it’s not your typical off-road race. There’s no GPS, no phones, and no shortcuts — just paper maps, compasses, and grit. Competitors rely on pure skill and teamwork as they navigate dunes, dry lakebeds, and rocky mountain passes in search of hidden checkpoints. It’s one of the most grueling and empowering off-road competitions out there.
Meet The Rebelle Rally Teams
Team #200 MTNSUBI – Carey Lando & Andrea Shaffer
Fresh off their 2024 X-Cross class win in Lando’s personal 2014 Outback, the dynamic duo is stepping up to Subaru’s latest tech: a 2025 Subaru Forester Touring Hybrid.
Their ride packs Subaru’s next-generation series-parallel hybrid powertrain, combining a newly developed 2.5-liter Boxer engine, electric motors, and a Lineartronic CVT. As always, Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and X-MODE Dual Mode with Hill Descent Control come standard — perfect for the unpredictable terrain of the Rebelle.
But these two aren’t leaving anything to chance. To prep their Forester Hybrid for over 1,500 miles of abuse, Lando and Shaffer added:
- A Subaru STI flexible strut tower brace for added chassis stability
- Upgraded Subaru WRX front brakes and Crosstrek Wilderness rear brakes for reliable stopping power under pressure
Expect this Forester to handle the rough stuff with the same confidence its drivers bring to the competition.
Team #210 Desert Disco – Emme Hall & Kendra Miller
If you’re into off-road media, chances are you’ve heard of Emme Hall — automotive journalist and veteran rally racer. Hall’s a two-time Rebelle Rally champion, taking the 4×4 class in 2018 and the X-Cross title in 2019. For 2025, she’s teaming up with Kendra Miller behind the wheel of a 2026 Subaru Crosstrek Wilderness, dubbed Team Desert Disco.
The Crosstrek Wilderness already rolls off the lot ready for adventure, with 9.3 inches of ground clearance and X-MODE Dual Mode standard. Still, the team made a few smart upgrades for competition:
- Thule Caprock roof rack for gear storage
- Method Race Wheels wrapped in BFGoodrich T/A KO2 tires
- Asfir 4×4 skid plates for underbody protection
- A Dometic refrigerator, because staying hydrated and fed in the desert is no joke
It’s a simple but effective build — proof that the Wilderness trim means business right out of the box.
Why The Rebelle Rally Matters
The Rebelle Rally isn’t just about winning — it’s about endurance, navigation, and empowerment. Over the last decade, it’s become the proving ground for women in motorsports and a showcase for vehicles that can back up their marketing claims with real-world performance.
Subaru’s involvement underscores its deep connection to adventure and capability. With both teams fielding factory-supported Subaru vehicles outfitted with genuine Subaru parts and accessories, the automaker is putting its reputation to the test in the harshest conditions imaginable.
Each vehicle will wear custom wraps reflecting the team’s unique style — expect MTNSUBI’s mountain vibe and Desert Disco’s retro flair to turn heads on the dunes.
