If you’re ever lucky enough to roll by the Off Road Xtreme office, you’d be pleased to see what all we have cooking in a given week. This time, we had the pleasure of checking out the new Sunrider for Hardtop from Bestop. Crossing the best parts of a soft top and a hardtop, the new product looks to bridge the gap and deliver some great features.
While our forthcoming tech article will go more in depth with how the Sunrider for Hardtop works and how to keep it clean, we thought there couldn’t be any harm in going over some of the basics of the product. One thing we can tell you is that the Sunrider for Hardtop does the job as advertised, and it sure makes the prospect of having open air and sunshine in your Wrangler practically a no-brainer.
The Sunrider for Hardtop has been one of the latest releases from Bestop. It addresses an issue JK owners have had with the standard hardtop: the Freedom Panels. These panels are directly overhead of the driver and passenger seats, and can be a hassle to remove and install as they come off in two pieces. The Sunrider for Hardtop essentially replaces both Freedom Panels, and allows quick deployment and retraction in less than a minute.
As with most of Bestop’s products, the Sunrider for Hardtop comes in one of two material types – Black Twill or Black Diamond Sailcloth fabric, the former costing $599.99 MSRP and the latter costing $699.99 MSRP. We look forward to showing you more of the product in the coming weeks, so keep an eye out here on Off Road Xtreme and don’t forget to check out more from Bestop on its website and Facebook page.
