If you are a fan of high flying, dirt slinging, asphalt shredding amazingness, you definitely need to check out the upcoming season of SPEED Energy Stadium Super Trucks (SST). Taking “Spec-Class” racing to a whole new level, SST vehicles ensure an amazingly level playing field.
Each race truck is provided by SST in fully race-prepped form. The driver and crew are only allowed to modify the vehicle with minor adjustments to shock tuning, tire pressure, front-end alignment, sway bar adjustments and spring rates, as per the race series rules. Each race team is assigned a SST Technician to make these adjustments. With every truck identical, driver skill is the key factor in every race. Big budgets wont get these trucks around the track any faster.
“…outreach from promoters asking us to bring the SST series to their venues has given us all a great sense of pride and proves to us that we have a series that is exactly what it was designed to be – the most unbelievable, jaw-dropping form of auto racing in the world.” Says SST founder and president Robby Gordon.
On March 7, 2014, the second season will kick off in Las Vegas, Nevada. A total of 15 rounds of competition will be held throughout the year, spanning across North America–reaching 10 of the top markets such as Long Beach, Toronto, Indianapolis, and then returning to Las Vegas for the final race. Each event will consist of two heat races of fifteen racers.
The top five move on to the Main event. A Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ) brings in another five trucks to the Main. Each venue will differ slightly depending on the size of the race course. Some events might end up with an additional five trucks in the main event from the LCQ. Some of the largest winnings in off-road racing are up for grabs. Chances to win big money at every event push drivers to their limits. Points tally through the year, like many other racing series’, providing another way to win purses, not to mention the bragging rights.
Bringing in a unique mash-up of desert racing and motocross, Stadium Super Trucks proves to be every adrenaline junkies dream. Some of the world’s best off-road racers line up and duke it out in an exciting new format that leaves you on the edge of your seat. Jumping distances of 150 feet and 20 feet in the air, these specialty trucks are a sight to see.
