Most of us off-road fans are big outdoors people, and what would be nicer than being able to go out and enjoy the great outdoors in luxury. We have probably all slept a couple times in our off-road vehicles out in the desert or out on the trail, and know that the aches and pains are not always worth it.
You could go the more traditional route of pitching a tent but your vehicle may already be tight on space, with the EarthRoamer it has the best of all worlds.
EarthRoamer is the producer of motorhomes that they call a “Xpedition Vehicle” (XV). If I have learned one thing about this company–do not call their XV an RV, because they are far from anything that you would typically consider a motorhome. With its one piece molded composite body, massive solar panel array, incredible off-road capability and elimination of the need for propane or a generator the XV is in a league of its own.
EarthRoamer's Getting Assembled
In 2002 EarthRoamer started with only two employees, and within one year they created a new standard in the industry providing a quality vehicle for a luxurious camping experience. With creating a functional, high quality, all weather, all season vehicle they created something that would be capable of traveling all over the world. They now have about 140 vehicles out on the road.
The EarthRoamer is extremely durable and strong as it is constructed from a one-piece body made from quarter-inch thick fiberglass on each side with balsa wood sandwiched between. The body sits on a Ford F-550 four-wheel drive chassis, and is supported by air ride suspension with King shocks on all four corners. The new XV-HD will sit on the new 2016 F-650 chassis with the 6.7-liter PowerStroke diesel motor. With each different cab configuration they have a different one piece body to adapt to the truck, coming in with a total width varying from 22 feet all the way up to 27 feet on their XV-LT model and up to 35 feet on the XV-HD.
Luxury Interior
The interior of the EarthRoamer lacks nothing that a luxury home on wheels should have. It has your choice of wood finish, dry/wet bathroom options, televisions, and everything you would need to cook a five course meal.
With sleeping arrangements for two adults and two children this could even be your new home. The EarthRoamer does have solar panels on the roof, available biodiesel operation, generator-free operation and large water tanks–you can live off the grid for quite a while.
Recently singer-songwriter and recording artist John Mayer purchased the XV-LT model and is enjoying taking it many different places, including Joshua Tree National Park to write some new songs. He has tried to keep a low profile with the purchase, but with such a large unique vehicle it is hard not to spot the celeb coming out of the luxury Xpedition Vehicle.
Being such a capable off-road house on wheels has really allowed folks to explore, there are not many places that the vehicle has not been. The EarthRoamer is getting to the point where you don’t mention what states or countries it has rolled through, but more by which continents. Exploring all over North America including Canada, United States, and venturing down throughout Mexico as well. An EarthRoamer has also touched down in England, Wales, Scotland, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Russia, Mongolia, Japan and has even ventured down under to Australia.
Each year EarthRoamer hosts EarthRoamer Adventures and Rally where groups of EarthRoamer XV owners and EarthRoamer employees gather to explore remote parts of the United States, Mexico and Canada.
EarthRoamer Adventures
All sounds to good to be true? Well there is one catch, the price. The EarthRoamer XV-LT ranges from around $282,000 – $500,000. XV-LTS prices range from about $312,000 – $560,000, while the XV-LTSS prices range from $342,000 to over $600,000 depending on options. If this is in your budget, this vehicle would definitely be something that you’ll be able to get use out of all year-round and see nearly every part of our beautiful planet.
