The Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) has a very broad range of interaction with the automotive industry as well as the general public. One of the ways SEMA helps to give back is through the SEMA Cares Committee.
SEMA Cares “aims to bring the voice and resources of the SEMA community together to make a positive difference in the lives of others.” The organization works with other non-profit groups to help their efforts in making this a better world. On January 14th, 2015, SEMA Cares gained a big jump in their advancements when a specially built 2015 Jeep Wrangler JK Unlimited rolled across the stage during the Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale, Arizona.
The highly customized JK Unlimited had more than $30,000 worth of goodies added on to it that were donated by a variety of sponsors. Elevated with a Rugged Ridge four-inch lift and rolling on 37-inch Falken Wildpeak M/Ts, this Jeep is a functional stunner. A Superchips Flash Programmer was added for an extra boost in power and the Rugged Ridge catalog was splattered across the entire vehicle including an XHD Swing Away rear bumper, a modular front bumper, Hurricane Flat Fenders, a performance vented hood, and so much more. The Rugged Ridge inspired custom paint was laid down by the folks over at LGE-CTS Motorsports.
This Jeep ended up selling for $85,000. SEMA Cares made sure all the proceeds went to ChildHelp and Victory Junction. ChildHelp dedicates themselves to prevention and treatment of child abuse and neglect victims and Victory Junction is a year round camping safe haven for kids with serious medical conditions.
SEMA Cares oftem works with automotive industry companies to help give back to the community. At this same auction, a Foose built Ford F-350 sponsored by WD-40 sold for $200,000. Read more about it here on DieselArmy.com.
