SCORE International just announced they are moving the location for Round 3 of this year’s season. The 2017 SCORE World Desert Championship from Rosarito Beach to Tijuana, Baja California and will feature a split format, multi-lap race, September 22-24.

The start and finish line will be located on the southeast outskirts of Tijuana near the Casian Ranch area. The course will be something new for all racers and could be an exciting change in the series.

The course, which has not been announced, will be in a new location, giving all teams an even playing field.

Tijuana is one of the five largest and fastest-growing metropolitan areas in all of Mexico. The city has also experienced tremendous growth in recent years, attracting investments by electronics, aerospace, and medical tourism firms. Tijuana is also regarded as one of the top culinary destinations in the world, including craft beer production.

“We appreciate all that Rosarito Beach did to launch the Baja version of the popular SCORE Desert Challenge, but as they were unable to host this year’s race, we are extremely pleased that the City of Tijuana, which has significantly more resources, is able to welcome this popular SCORE racing event,” comments Roger Norman, SCORE President/CEO. “Located close to the US Border at San Diego, it will also provide an easier access and departure from the race, making attending and/or participating in this event even easier than the other race events in our SCORE World Desert Championship.”

Because of the change, the race will take place one week later than originally scheduled to allow race team and sponsors to adjust. Be sure to check out the SCORE website for more information on the race including a full list of events.
