The 2025 SCORE Championship kicked off this past weekend with the 38th running of the iconic San Felipe 250—and once again, RZR Factory Racing came out swinging. Brock Heger put on an absolute clinic, taking the overall UTV win and topping the UTV Pro Open class for the sixth time in a row.
It wasn’t just Heger who impressed, though. Max Eddy Jr. powered his way through the unforgiving Baja terrain to grab a solid third place in Pro Open. Together with Polaris-supported racers Branden Sims (2nd), Wayne Matlock (4th), and Ethan Groom (5th), the Polaris camp swept the top five spots in the class. Between the race-built RZR Pro R Factory machines and the battle-tested RZR Pro R, Polaris locked down nine of the top ten finishes in Pro Open.
RZR Factory Racing At San Felipe
The race started with a random draw that saw Heger roll off third, with teammates Justin Morgan, Cayden MacCachren, and Eddy Jr. scattered deeper in the pack. But by race mile 35, the RZR Factory Racing squad had already surged to the front. Morgan held the early lead on corrected time, with Heger, MacCachren, and Eddy Jr. close behind and pushing hard.
Through the next 65 miles, Morgan kept the pressure on, but the rest of the team stayed locked in. By mile 140, things got spicy—Heger and MacCachren were battling for first, while Eddy Jr. was carving his way through the infamous San Felipe whoops and washes with laser focus.
Then came the final stretch—the last 110 miles of what many called the most brutal course in San Felipe history. That’s where the RZR Pro R Factory platform really shines. At mile 200, Heger was physically in front, but MacCachren still had a time advantage. Over the last 50 miles, Heger upped the pace and clawed his way to the win. Eddy Jr. wasn’t far behind, using his deep Baja experience to lock in third.
A Great Start To The Racing Season
“It feels incredible to kick off the season with a win—and to make it six straight is just surreal,” Heger said after the finish. “This course was gnarly. I had my ups and downs out there, but the RZR Pro R Factory delivered every time I needed it to. I’m super thankful for the crew and the whole Polaris team. That machine is a beast.”
RZR Factory Racing Technical Director Alex Scheuerell added: “Watching our team take on this terrain and come away with the win is just awesome. Heger getting six in a row speaks volumes about both his skill and the reliability of our platform. Huge thanks to everyone behind the scenes who makes this happen—engineers, race techs, everyone.”
Now, the team shifts its focus to the Baja 500, set for June 4–8. MacCachren is back to defend his overall UTV crown, while Heger and the rest of the Polaris squad aim to keep the momentum going and chase another championship in the SCORE series.
