Roush Performance has spent decades developing specialty performance vehicles, and for 2027, the Livonia, Michigan-based company is applying that experience to a new platform. The result is the Ram 1500 Direct Connection by Roush, a factory-backed package designed to bring a more aggressive look and additional off-road capability to Ram’s light-duty pickup.
Developed for drivers looking for bold styling, improved trail capability and OEM-grade integration, the new package combines the Ram 1500’s established truck platform with Roush-engineered suspension, wheels, tires, exhaust and appearance components.

A HEMI-Powered Starting Point
Rather than beginning with a stripped-down truck, Roush builds the package around a well-equipped 2027 Ram 1500 Big Horn Crew Cab 4×4 powered by the 5.7-liter HEMI V8.
Every truck starts with Ram’s exclusive Direct Connection Package, Level 2 Equipment Group and a 3.92 rear axle. The Direct Connection Package adds the Sport Performance Hood and Night Edition Package, along with Mopar leather seats, the Protection Group and off-road running boards borrowed from the TRX.
A surround-view camera system, electronic locking rear axle, trailer brake controller and rear wheelhouse liners are also part of the package. Together, that factory equipment provides the foundation for Roush’s performance and appearance upgrades.

Roush Suspension Meets 33-Inch Grabbers
At the heart of the Roush transformation is the company’s Performance 2.0 Coil-Over Suspension System. The setup uses custom-tuned twin-tube hydraulic dampers engineered to improve the Ram’s off-road performance while retaining confident road manners.
Importantly for owners who intend to use the truck as more than a weekend toy, Roush says the suspension maintains the Ram’s factory advanced driver-assistance systems, or ADAS, as well as its towing capability.
The suspension upgrade is paired with 33-inch General Tire Grabber A/TX all-terrain tires mounted on 18-inch performance wheels. Roush “R” center caps and black lug nuts provide the finishing touches.
The combination gives the Ram a more purposeful stance while adding the tire and suspension hardware necessary to improve its performance once the pavement ends.

An Exhaust With Multiple Personalities
Roush also addresses one of the characteristics enthusiasts expect from a HEMI-powered pickup: sound.
The Ram 1500 Direct Connection by Roush receives an Active Cat-Back Performance Exhaust System finished with branded black exhaust tips. The system is designed to deliver a deeper, more aggressive exhaust note, but its selectable settings allow the driver to tailor the sound to the situation.
That means the truck can adopt a more restrained personality while cruising on the highway and a more aggressive voice when the occasion calls for it.

Making Sure It Looks Like a Roush
Mechanical upgrades are only part of the package. Roush designers gave the truck an extensive exterior makeover intended to make the Direct Connection model immediately distinguishable from a standard Ram 1500.
Aggressive hood vents are paired with hood graphics, while wider fender flares incorporate clearance lighting. Up front, a unique grille features red “RAM” lettering and accent lighting. A paint-matched bumper and red tow hooks continue the theme.
Lower side rocker graphics, USA bedside flag graphics, rear badging and additional Roush exterior graphics round out the transformation.
The upgrades aren’t simply aimed at creating a more imposing parking-lot presence. Roush developed the truck around real-world pickup capability as well. Its 3.92 rear axle, electronic locking differential, Protection Group skid plates and trailer brake controller are intended to provide additional confidence for off-road use, towing and everyday driving. Trailer Tow Package II is also available.
Combined with the Roush suspension, wheels, tires and exhaust, the result is intended to offer more capability and a stronger visual identity without giving up the integration, fit and finish expected from a factory-backed vehicle.

A Custom Touch Inside
The changes continue inside the cabin, although they’re considerably more restrained than the exterior treatment.
Direct Connection-branded floor mats identify the special package, while additional badging appears on the center console and passenger-side upper glovebox.
Because the package begins with a well-equipped Ram, the cabin also benefits from the Mopar leather seats, surround-view camera system and other Ram equipment selected specifically for the Direct Connection package.

Three Names Behind One Truck
For Roush, the project brings together the capabilities of three performance-oriented names: Ram, Direct Connection and Roush.
“We’ve taken our many years of experience building specialty performance trucks and applied it to an all-new platform with the Ram 1500 Direct Connection By Roush package,” said Jack Roush Jr., vice president of brand strategy at Roush Performance. “This truck brings together Ram capability, Direct Connection performance credibility and Roush engineering in a package that looks aggressive, drives confidently and gives enthusiasts something truly unique in the light-duty truck space.”

Five Colors and a Nearly $79,000 Price Tag
Buyers can order the Ram 1500 Direct Connection by Roush in five exterior colors: Bright White, Diamond Black Crystal Pearl-Coat, Forged Blue Metallic, Granite Crystal Metallic and Molten Red Pearl-Coat.
The Roush package starts at $15,995 above the purchase price of the original vehicle. According to Roush, that brings total package MSRP to approximately $78,960.
All Roush components are backed by a 3-year/36,000-mile warranty.
That combination of dealer availability and warranty coverage helps define what Roush is trying to accomplish with the new truck. Rather than turning the Ram 1500 into an extreme, single-purpose off-road build, the Direct Connection package adds suspension, tire, exhaust and styling upgrades while retaining the underlying truck’s towing capability, driver-assistance technology and everyday usability.
For buyers who want a 5.7-liter HEMI-powered Ram with a more aggressive stance and a collection of engineered upgrades without piecing together an aftermarket build component by component, the 2027 Ram 1500 Direct Connection by Roush offers a new factory-backed route.
