The Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series has seen some thrills and spills this year, but one team seems to be above it all as the season progresses. The team in question is none other than Team Renezeder, led by off-road racing legend Carl Renezeder and his Lucas Oil/General Tire-liveried Pro 4 Nissan, supplied with top-of-the-line driveline components from Motive Gear.
Taking place at the Miller Motorsports Park in picturesque Tooele, Utah, Renezeder proved just what he was capable of in Round 7. The podium victories in both rounds added to his now-finished tally, making this his ninth consecutive win (including his Round 15 success in 2012, as well as the first seven races of 2013), a record for the series.
It seemed like Round 8 would have continued the streak, but the fight in the mud against MacCachren led to a critical mistake on the part of the 50-year-old racer. “It was my own fault–total driver error,” explained Renezeder after Sunday’s Pro 4 race. “Going into turn four, I went to set the truck and hit the wrong brake pedal. So frustrating!”
Renezeder’s split pedal setup, which allows him to control all four brakes or the front two only, proved to be his downfall this time. But the veteran is no doubt going to make it up next time, which will be at the Glen Helen Raceway in San Bernardino, California, in early August.
In the meantime, head to Motive Gear’s Facebook page and offer up your congratulations for a historic record achieved by and shared by both Renezeder and Motive Gear. Liking the page will also get you automatically updated with news, events, promotions, and more.
